Nottin but Corn...
We did it. We managed to come out of the corn maze alive on Saturday. We were a little worried when we showed up and saw how many people were there. We had a good time, lots of corny jokes, screaming (mostly Terri-lyn and me) and Corey's special Corn stalk we marched our way through! It was much better this year since the corn was still standing and we weren't able to cheat by looking over it. Corey and Kristy brought there energy friendly winding flashlights, so if you did manage to stray from your party you were able to find everyone pretty quick by just listening for the winding. Which happened every 30 seconds. Those things don't last long. I guess the one thing we all came out with was, the answer is always left.

And there goes August
Well August is over in 4 days. That came quick. I have been spending this entire month looking after a woman's flowers on the rooftop garden because she fell and broke her hip. It has been raining the past week so I haven't had to do much. Today was the first time this week that there was decent weather so I wandered out there to take a peek at Recreation's flowers and the one's I am looking after.
One whole plant died, and all the sunflowers are starting to fall forwards. Now, I seem to do well with indoor plants, however, I have never had an outdoor garden of my own before and am hoping this isn't my fault and this is just from the cool weather meaning the end of summer. I will have to confess to her soon, my stomach cannot handle the stress.
On a brighter note we are heading home to the farm this weekend and my folks are meeting us out there. We are pretty excited, we will be staying at the Dyck's so overall this weekend will be pretty good. Perhaps there will be a pumpkin pick, I am not sure. Would be fun since we are out there to give a hand.
Corey and I have a new mattress we are borrowing/buying from his parents. It is like heaven on our backs. We have a had a pretty rotten mattress since we have been married. The springs stick into your back, you can tell where we sleep from the body indents, and every time you even move a toe the whole thing vibrates with a round of musical squeaks. I guess that is what you get when you only pay $200 for the whole thing. I have learnt my lesson the painful way, also my husband never lets me forget either. Stupid bed. So congratulations to any guests that come to stay at our house, guess where you're sleeping!

It isn't really that bad ;)

O Canada!
I am wasting time staying awake so that I can see the fireworks for Canada day. I am assuming they are good because there is a lot of screaming and commotion on the street that I have never heard before. I guess out here in E-Town Canada day is a lot more celebrated than New Years. Kind of a shocker. Corey and I spent our Canada day with big plans to go see the City Hall celebration then wander over to the Parliament grounds for the lawn bowling tourney. Well, after we finished our little work b and got our groceries everything was over. So we sadly looked at the clock, and said, "HAPPY CANADA DAY". Good time hey, and this is why I am forcing myself to stay awake for the fireworks. I have always celebrated Canada day, so I need to do something. Now that I recall, I think it was this time last year we forgot to do anything again, but managed to wander downtown to see the fireworks. Hmm, maybe this is the new theme.

Where there's a whip, there's a way
A bit of a gap in the times between blogs. Obviously I am not as good at this as others. Life is good, very good right now. Corey works long hours right now so I miss him as we only see each other for an hour a day during the week. I am enjoying this though, it is nice to be reminded how much you enjoy someones company. Life is so dull without him.
We went to the Cirque du Soleil this weekend with our friends. It was incredible!

I was amazed at what the human body is capable of. There were a couple times that I even looked away afraid that I was going to see someone splat on the floor below, but no these people have the strongest calve muscles known to man. I strongly advise anyone who has the chance to go see these performances, well worth it! Good bit of humour in there too. Something for all tastes.

I looked up from my book and there they were...
A pair of eyes staring at me. It seems that a few of my plants have grown some faces. Not sure what this means, perhaps Corey has been studying a little too long or maybe I have some very special water.

Money should give it away
I was reading in the paper today about the Russian Orthodox cult that has been hiding in a cave since November because the world is ending in May. Well, the few thoughts that ran through my head when I read this was, "Wow, May. That doesn't give us much longer does it.", "Why a cave? if the world is going to end, a cave isn't going to do much good.", and "Where do they go the bathroom?". I read part of the article to Corey and he laughed and said, "Well, I guess the world won't end in May, they predicted it so now it can't happen anymore". Phew... It's a good thing, I had plans for May.
These people were threatening the authorities that if they tried to come into their cave to take them out they would blow themselves up. Well, if your just going to blow yourself up, why are you hiding in a cave waiting for the world to end? It doesn't quite make sense.
One of the best parts of the article however was their "prophet" leader was released from the psychiatric hospital to help authorities convince them to come out of the cave. The other good part was when they listed what they were not allowed to do in the religion one of them was handle money. So I was thinking, you know something is wrong when firstly, your leader is sent to a psychiatric hospital and secondly you can't touch your own money. Somehow these cults are always taking people's money.

Life in the whatnow?
Well, since Lent is almost over and Sherri no longer needs to be encouraged of our friendship, I guess I could give an update of things, or try to anyway. I also noticed that I have been added as a link to a friend's page. This made me feel guilty, such pride to be added but I never blog on this darn thing. I guess I better try harder, for the link's sake anyway.
Today was a rather silly day in some ways, I had to fill out my first incident report at work. I got a spank on the bum, from one of my old men! Now I am sure that this old fellow meant nothing more of it than a 'get going' king of friendly pat, but in this world you can't let things like that go without telling someone. I could be accused of terrible things; funny, I know this would never happen coming from me, but sadly from someone else it could happen and a big kerfuffle could be made.

I was looking on our camera for a good shot from our Jasper trip and I mostly found one too many pictures of a gigantic hamburger, obviously the makings of my husband, and a strange one of my leg?! Anyway, here is a couple good shots from Jasper. It was a nice weekend, good to get away and spend time with other couples. We found this bakery that made awful coffee, but the best cheese buns I have ever tasted. I am deciding whether another trip to Jasper would be fun and relaxing, if not at least for the cheese buns. I noticed that all of our pictures from Jasper are of Kevin and Ashley, this one below makes me laugh, there sappy pose and Vicky looking weirded out.

I really liked this picture. Terri-Lynn had made this great cake for Colin's birthday and Bryce was carrying it and somehow it came out like this. I think it gave it character.
Oh yes, here is the enormous burger that Corey made
